I left the safest job in Irish broadcasting when my son was two weeks old.
Just a spare room, a laptop and a decision that the work I was doing had to mean something.
That was several years ago. Today I run Podlad from that same spare room — working with experts, founders and specialists to produce podcasts that sound as good as the thinking behind them.
I didn't leave RTÉ because I was brave. I left because I couldn't keep building someone else's vision when I knew I had something to offer on my own terms.
That's the same instinct a lot of my clients have when they come to me.
My Life
When the headphones come off I'm a husband and a dad. A successful business means nothing to me if I can’t enjoy time with my family.
My wife Jenni keeps this whole operation grounded. My kids Sonny and Emmie make sure I don't take any of it too seriously. We live in Drimnagh in the heart of Dublin and have the best neighbours anyone could wish for.
I love Friday night football at Richmond Park watching St. Patrick's Athletic, drinking coffee or eating something Mediterranean (or mexican or indian or… just give me them all). Occasionally a pint of Guinness.
People often tell me they booked a call because I seemed like a real person. I'll take that.
My Professional Background
I spent 17 years in broadcasting before going independent. RTÉ. BBC. MTV. Brown Bag Films. Q102. 4FM.
In 2020 I produced the RTÉ podcast Treasure Island: The Hunt for the Falcon Blanco. It won a Silver Award at the New York Festivals Radio Awards in the Serialized Podcast category.
Since then every show I've worked on has been independent. Coaches, consultants, HR specialists, healthcare founders, tech companies, recruiters. People who have built real expertise and want a show that reflects it.
